In a troubling sequence of events, hand-held radios used by the militant group Hezbollah exploded across Beirut and southern Lebanon on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in the deaths of at least three people.

This incident occurred just a day after a devastating series of explosions involving pagers used by the same group, which killed at least twelve and injured nearly 3,000 individuals.

The recent explosions have caused significant alarm. One of the hand-held radio blasts took place near a funeral organized by Hezbollah for those who died in the previous day's pager explosions.

The pager blasts had been catastrophic, with the detonations affecting thousands of Hezbollah members and causing injuries to a wide range of people, including children and an envoy from Iran.

The radios that exploded were purchased by Hezbollah about five months ago, around the same time the pagers were acquired. The detonations have fueled fears of a broader conflict in the region.

On the same day as the radio explosions, Hezbollah claimed responsibility for an attack on Israeli artillery positions. This escalation raises concerns about a potential widening of the Middle East conflict.

The situation surrounding the pager explosions is also under scrutiny. Lebanese officials have suggested that Israel might have tampered with the pagers, leading to the deadly blasts.

The company that manufactured the pagers, however, stated that although its brand was used, the devices were produced by a company based in Budapest.

Reports indicate that each pager had 1 to 2 ounces of explosive material hidden next to the battery, with a remote-trigger switch to detonate the explosives.
