Houthis strike US, Israeli targets amid Gaza conflict.

Yemen’s Houthi group has announced that it launched fresh attacks targeting a United States aircraft carrier in the Red Sea and what it described as "military targets" in Tel Aviv, Israel.

The group's military spokesperson, Yahya Sarea, confirmed the attacks in a statement broadcast on the Houthi-run al-Masirah TV on Wednesday.

Sarea claimed that missile and drone attacks were carried out over the past few hours, specifically targeting American warships, including the USS Harry S. Truman aircraft carrier. He accused the US of launching aggressive actions against Yemen from this carrier.

According to him, the confrontation continued for several hours, and the group vowed to continue resisting ongoing US airstrikes on Houthi-controlled regions in northern Yemen.

There has yet to be a response from the US military regarding these claims. Reports from the Xinhua news agency have also noted the absence of an official statement from Washington on the incident.

In addition to the attacks on US targets, Sarea revealed that the Houthis had carried out a fresh assault on Tel Aviv, aiming at what he described as "military targets" with drones.

He expressed the group's solidarity with the Palestinian people in Gaza, stating that the strikes on Israeli targets would persist until "the war on Gaza stops."

Al-Masirah TV reported that late on Tuesday night, the US carried out seven airstrikes on Saada province, a stronghold of the Houthis in northern Yemen. There were no immediate reports of casualties from these strikes.

The airstrikes are part of an ongoing US campaign against Houthi-controlled areas in Yemen, which began in mid-March.

The Houthi group has been engaged in a prolonged conflict in Yemen since the country plunged into civil war in 2014. The group has gained control over significant parts of northern Yemen, including the capital, Sana'a.

The conflict has drawn in multiple international actors, with the US backing the Saudi-led coalition fighting against the Houthis.

Reports of these attacks come amidst rising tensions in the Middle East, particularly following escalations in the Gaza Strip. The Houthis have positioned themselves as supporters of the Palestinian cause, intensifying their strikes on Israel in what they describe as retaliation against the violence in Gaza.

Meanwhile, the US military has maintained its presence in the Red Sea, monitoring the region closely.

The recent exchanges signal a potential escalation in the conflict, raising concerns over the stability of the region and the safety of maritime routes in the Red Sea.
