ICJ rules Israel obliged to supply food, water, medicine to Gaza.

The International Court of Justice in The Hague has said that Israel is legally obliged to allow aid into Gaza under International law to ensure that basic human needs in the Gaza Strip are met.

ICJ President Iwasawa Yuji on Wednesday ruled on the court’s opinion on Israel’s legal obligations as an occupying power concerning humanitarian aid to Gaza.

The court, in its opinion, pointed out UN observations that “remain significantly below the volume required to meet the needs of the local population.”

It also said that Israel is obligated as an occupying power to supply the essentials of daily life, including food, water and medicine.

The court ruled against Israeli allegations that UNRWA workers were members of Hamas or any other fighting group in Gaza due to the lack of credible evidence supporting the claims.

Meanwhile, Israel's Foreign Ministry has rejected the ICJ opinion as "yet another political attempt to impose political measures against Israel under the guise of 'International Law."

The foreign ministry statement also criticised the opinion that the court should have criticised the terrorist activity that UNRWA has been involved in.

It also said that Israel would not cooperate with the organisation whose members are involved in the terror activities. Israel has accused UNRWA employees and aid workers of being members of Hamas since the October 7, 2023, attack, which led to the kidnapping of several Israeli people.

The truce deal between Hamas and Israel was brokered by the United States President Donald Trump, which remains in force despite ceasefire violations reported on both sides.
