US Vice President JD Vance has said that mass migration poses a risk to the United States while “stealing” the American Dream, as the government has increased the ICE raids and deportations.
Vance’s comments came after an online video posted by a construction company owner saying that it was “amazing” that immigrants were not showing up for work. The man allegedly claimed that he was getting more work-related calls than ever after US authorities cracked down on the illegal immigrants from different countries.
“Mass migration is theft of the American Dream,” Vance, whose wife Usha was born to a family of immigrants from India, wrote on X. “It has always been this way, and every position paper, think tank piece, and econometric study suggesting otherwise is paid for by the people getting rich off of the old system,” he added.
Vance, who is known for his strong anti-immigrant stance, said immigration was driving up prices and making housing more expensive. During an interview last month, Vance said, “A lot of young people are complaining about rising house rents. Why is that? It is because the country was flooded with more than 30 million undocumented immigrants.”

President Donald Trump has launched a massive crackdown on illegal immigration since returning to the White House in January. ICE has, meanwhile, deported over 400,000 immigrants since September. Democrats and migrant rights groups have argued that federal agents were often deporting people with no criminal records outside detention centres.
In response, Trump has accused his critics of protecting criminals and drew attention to several high-profile crimes, including the welfare fraud scheme in Minnesota. The US administration under President Donald Trump has taken strong anti-immigration measures, as it continuously keeps sending migrants back to their respective nations.
