Former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan on Saturday called the court verdict in the Al-Qadir Trust case a “mockery of justice” and vowed to fight “to the end,” reports said.
In a post on X, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan criticised the judicial process, calling it a “mockery” of justice. He alleged that the individuals who wrote the judgement leaked it to the media, undermining the integrity of the legal system.
The PTI founder reiterated his stance against the “military-backed regime” and vowed to never accept it.
“I will continue my struggle for true freedom and democracy, even if it means spending more time in jail,” he said, emphasising that he will make no compromise on his principles or the fight for Pakistan’s true independence.
He also stated, “We will fight till the last ball, and I will not make any deals. I will face all the false cases brought against me.”
In the Al-Qadir Trust case, Khan accused the judiciary of further damaging its credibility. He claimed that judges who supported “military rule” and acted on their instructions were rewarded.
“Rather than me, the court should have focused on Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif and his two sons for reportedly selling their property worth 9 billion pounds to a business tycoon for 18 billion pounds, raising questions on the source of their overwhelming wealth and their connection to the Panama Papers leak case,” he said.
He accused former Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa of facilitating money laundering in the Hudaibiya Paper Mills case, where billions of rupees were forgiven.
Khan said, “My wife is a housewife with no connection to politics. She has always stood by me in these challenging times.”
Following his conviction in an accountability court in Rawalpindi, which sentenced Khan to 14 years in prison and Bushra Bibi to 7 years in the 190 million-pound Al-Qadir Trust case, Imran Khan’s wife was arrested in the court.
