The Indian Air Force’s Sarang aerobatic team is poised to dazzle spectators with their spectacular aerial manoeuvres at the Singapore Airshow 2024, scheduled to take place next week at the Changi Exhibition Centre.

Organizers Experia announced that the five-day event, running from February 20 to 25, will feature over 1,000 participating companies from more than 50 countries and regions.

A team comprising 71 personnel from the Indian Air Force’s Sarang Helicopter Display Team will participate in the event, flying five Advanced Light Helicopters (ALH) also known as ‘Dhruv’.

The ‘Dhruv’ helicopter, designed and built by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited, is renowned for its all-weather capabilities and multi-mission capabilities. Featuring rigid, hingeless rotors, it offers exceptional manoeuvrability, particularly suited for military operations.

The Sarang Helicopter Display Team, formed in 2003, has achieved international acclaim, with their debut performance at the Asian Aerospace Show in Singapore in 2004. Initially a three-helicopter formation, the Sarang team now presents a thrilling five-helicopter display, having performed over 1,200 displays at more than 385 venues worldwide.

The Singapore Airshow 2024 boasts an extensive lineup, with 90 per cent of the top 20 global aviation companies in attendance, including Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, and Rolls-Royce. Additionally, 16 country pavilions will be featured, with China, the Czech Republic, and Korea participating for the first time.

Managing Director of Experia, Leck Chet Lam, emphasised the significance of the event in facilitating industry growth amidst current challenges. He highlighted the AeroForum series as a platform for engaging industry leaders in discussions on advanced air mobility, sustainability, and international cooperation.

The Sustainable Aviation Forum, a key component of AeroForum, will explore pressing issues in the industry, including the journey towards achieving net-zero emissions. In collaboration with consultancy firm McKinsey & Company, the forum will feature expert panels from leading companies such as Airbus, Boeing, and Cathay Pacific.

The Singapore Airshow 2024 promises to be a pivotal event for the aviation sector, offering a vibrant marketplace and opportunities for collaboration and innovation.
