An Indian national was fatally stabbed in Rockland, a township near Ottawa in Canada, authorities confirmed on Friday. A suspect has been taken into custody, although further details regarding the motive or circumstances remain undisclosed.
The Indian Embassy in Canada, in a statement posted on social media platform X, confirmed the incident and expressed grief over the tragedy.
“We are deeply saddened by the tragic death of an Indian national in Rockland near Ottawa, due to stabbing. Police has stated a suspect has been taken into custody. We are in close contact through a local community association to provide all possible assistance to the bereaved kin,” the embassy stated.
According to a report by CBC News, one person was found dead at the scene in Clarence-Rockland, while another was arrested.
The name of the victim has not yet been released, nor have details about any potential charges filed against the suspect.
