The rescue operations were also made harder by the security features of the building, as the house was reportedly fitted with electronic locks that made rescue operations harder due to the thick smoke.

Seven people have been killed in a devastating fire that swept through a three-storey house in Indore’s Brajeshwari Annex Colony in the early hours of Wednesday. The tragedy was reportedly sparked by an explosion at an electric vehicle charging point outside the property between 3:30 am and 4:30 am, while the occupants were asleep.

According to Police Commissioner Santosh Kumar Singh, the fire began when a car plugged into an external charging point ignited following a suspected short circuit. The resulting blaze quickly engulfed the vehicle before spreading to the main structure. This was made even worse by the fact that the victims were trapped by the fire because there were cooking gas cylinders within the house that caught fire and exploded.

The rescue operations were also made harder by the security features of the building, as the house was reportedly fitted with electronic locks that made rescue operations harder due to the thick smoke. However, the rescuers managed to rescue three people from the fire. However, at least ten people were believed to be inside at the time, and a search is currently underway for a child who remains missing.

The seven victims were taken to the government-run Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College, where Dr Arvind Ghanghoria confirmed they had succumbed to their injuries. Two of the rescued survivors were also treated at the hospital but have since been discharged to seek private care. Local authorities, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police Kundan Mandloi, remain on-site as forensic teams investigate the exact technical failure that led to the initial blast.
