Iranian military forces have vowed an all-out and harsh response after Israeli predawn air strikes targeted civilian nuclear sites near Tehran.
On Saturday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that Israel would pay a “heavy price” for attacking two civilian nuclear facilities and steel factories. Iran’s military also cautioned the US and Israel that they were risking serious consequences by targeting the country’s energy infrastructure.
Iran’s Atomic Energy Organisation said there was no leakage of radioactive material from the strikes on the Ardakan yellowcake production plant and the Khondab heavy-water facility.
Earlier, Iranian forces had struck near Israel’s Dimona nuclear compound as a warning that they could target energy sites if required.
Experts believe Israel’s actions aim to widen the conflict and draw the international community into its war against Iran, which has so far avoided full-scale confrontation.
Meanwhile, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said he would meet his counterparts from Pakistan, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia over the weekend to discuss the US-Israel war on Iran.
At least 1,142 killed and over 3,000 injured in Israeli attacks across Lebanon since March 2.
Varied reports suggest thousands have also been injured in Israel, though strict censorship restricts the release of war-related figures there.
