Defence Minister Israel Katz on Monday said the Israeli Air Force had carried out the assassination of Majid Khademi, head of intelligence for the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, warning that Israel would pursue Iranian leadership figures ‘one by one’.
Speaking after a security assessment meeting with Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir and other senior officials, Katz said, “The (Iranian) Revolutionary Guards fire at civilians and we eliminate the heads of terrorists.” He added, “Iran’s leaders are living under constant pressure. We will continue to track them down individually.”
Katz also stated that Israel would persist in targeting Iran’s key infrastructure in order to weaken its economic base and missile production capabilities. “We have already dealt significant blows to steel facilities and the petrochemical sector—and these operations will continue daily,” he said.

Khademi had assumed the intelligence post only a few months earlier, after his predecessor Mohammad Kazemi was killed by Israeli forces during the June 2025 conflict.
Israel has reportedly eliminated multiple high-ranking Iranian officials, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was said to have been killed in the initial wave of strikes launched jointly by Israel and the United States on February 28.
At the same time, local media reported that urgent diplomatic efforts were underway to secure a ceasefire, following threats from U.S. President Donald Trump to target Iran’s critical infrastructure if an agreement is not reached by his Tuesday deadline.
Trump told Axios on Sunday that his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner were engaged in ‘intense negotiations’ with Iranian officials. However, he warned that if a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz is not achieved, he would proceed with sweeping military action.
