Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has threatened retaliatory strikes on American universities in the Middle East after US-Israeli forces targeted two Iranian universities on Saturday night.

The IRGC warned that US universities in the region must “brace for impact” from Iranian missiles and urged staff and students to evacuate the campuses immediately.

It claimed that Zionist forces, in collusion with American forces, had illegally targeted educational institutions in Iran and said they must now “pay in the same manner and exact capacity".

In a strongly worded statement issued on Sunday, the IRGC warned, “American universities in the region could be targeted unless Washington issues an official condemnation of the bombings by noon on Monday, March 30.”

It further advised, "We advise all employees, professors, and students of American universities in the region and residents of surrounding areas to stay at least one kilometre away from the campuses.”

Several American institutions operate in the Gulf, including Texas A&M University in Qatar and New York University in the UAE.

The ongoing US-Israeli strikes on Iranian infrastructure have caused damage worth billions of dollars in the past four weeks of the conflict.

Israel’s military had earlier said it would finish attacking essential weapons production sites within “a few days".

The US has claimed it has struck more than 11,000 Iranian targets since the war began.
