Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has warned the United States of military retaliation over ongoing attacks on Iran-linked oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz, saying action will be taken against US ships and its bases in the region. The ceasefire, however, remains in place despite sporadic incidents of violence in the critical waterway.
The United States government has expressed optimism about the latest peace proposal currently being evaluated by the Iranian side and hopes that Tehran will respond positively to end the ongoing war and resume talks.
