Israel has backed the ceasefire decision between the US and Iran. Speaking about the decision, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, "We backed the US ceasefire with Iran." He added that the deal does not cover fighting against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
"The deal with Iran is one thing, the threat from Lebanon is another. Our operations against Hezbollah will proceed as necessary.”
Netanyahu's office said in a statement on Wednesday that Israel supported US President Donald Trump's decision to suspend strikes against Iran for two weeks, subject to Iran immediately opening the Strait of Hormuz and stopping all attacks on the US, Israel, and Gulf countries.
His office said Israel supports US efforts to stop Iran from posing a nuclear or missile threat.
Previous reports indicated that Netanyahu was against the ceasefire, wanting to push military pressure rather than allow a truce.
