In yesterday's UNSC meeting demanded by the Israeli side over the recent Houthi missile attacks on the country, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations issued a "final warning" to the Yemen-based Houthi rebels to halt their attacks on Israel.
Before the meeting, Israel also carried out several airstrikes on the international airport in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, and other Houthi targets in the country on Thursday.
The strikes, as per Israeli officials, were a response to Houthi ballistic missile attacks on Israel’s major commercial city of Tel Aviv.
The UN Security Council on Monday convened an emergency meeting amid growing concern about the possible escalation of the conflict between the Houthis and the Israeli side.
Meanwhile, the participants at the meeting condemned the Houthi attacks on Israel and expressed concern about the Israeli airstrikes. They issued a joint statement calling for de-escalation.
Israel's envoy to the UN, Danny Danon, said that the Houthi group has "unleashed almost 300 unprovoked missile and drone attacks targeting Israeli civilians and communities" for over a year.
He added, "Don't call for de-escalation when we defend ourselves."
Danon warned the Houthis: "Allow me to remind you what has happened to Hamas, to Hezbollah, and to Assad towards those who have attempted to destroy us. Let this be your final warning. This is not a threat. It is a promise."
Meanwhile, undeterred by the warnings, the Houthis have said that they will not cease their attacks on Israel till it halts operations inside Gaza.
Furthermore, the Houthis have also said these warnings and condemnations have no basis considering the conduct Israel has while conducting military operations inside Gaza.
