At least 81 people have been killed in Israeli airstrikes in Gaza since early Monday morning. Among these, 53 deaths have been reported in Gaza City, said Gaza’s health ministry, which the United Nations considers credible.
These attacks are taking place at a time when different messages are emerging from Washington and Hamas officials amid unconfirmed reports that the Palestinian group has agreed to the US ceasefire proposal for Gaza. A World Health Organisation spokesperson says that “everyone is suffering” in Gaza as hospitals run out of medical supplies to treat the sick and “horrific” injuries as Israel blocks aid and intensifies attacks.
Another UN agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA) said that Gaza’s more than 2 million people are being “treated like pinballs,” who have been continuously forced to “flee in search of safety that doesn’t exist." In a post on social media, UNRWA stated it was “at a loss for words to do any justice to the suffering” the population of Gaza is being forced to endure.

“With nearly 20 months of war, people are exhausted, disoriented, grieving, and constantly in fear,” the agency said. “This hardship and uncertainty must end,” it said. Earlier in the day, Israeli ground forces entered an area near Meiss al-Jabal in the Marjayoun district of southern Lebanon despite having no Hezbollah presence. This again raises serious questions on Netanyahu's government intentions, which perhaps are trying to start another war since the US lifted sanctions on Syria.
Reports said that the Israeli forces entered the outskirts of the Meiss al-Jabal and carried out bulldozing actions in the area. The United Nations says Israeli attacks have killed more than 70 civilians in Lebanon since Israel agreed on a ceasefire with Hezbollah on November 27. Israel’s war on Gaza has killed at least 53,977 Palestinians and wounded 122,966, according to Gaza’s Health Ministry. The Government Media Office updated its death toll to more than 61,700, saying that thousands of people missing under the rubble are presumed dead. An estimated 1,139 people were killed in Israel during the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023, and more than 200 were taken captive.
