Israeli forces strike Gaza after rocket attack kills soldiers

In response to a deadly rocket attack claimed by Hamas, Israel launched airstrikes targeting the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

The attack, which Israel alleges killed three of its soldiers at the Kerem Shalom border crossing, prompted a swift retaliation from Israeli forces.

Health authorities in Gaza, controlled by Hamas, reported at least 16 casualties resulting from the Israeli counter-attack on Sunday.

According to the Israeli military, the strikes were a response to 10 projectiles launched from Rafah toward the border crossing.

Subsequently, the Kerem Shalom crossing has been closed, halting aid truck deliveries into Gaza.

The escalation in violence coincided with the conclusion of the latest round of ceasefire talks for Gaza.

Despite what Hamas described as "in-depth and serious discussions," the Palestinian militant group stated that Israel rejected key demands, exacerbating tensions in the region.
