However, with the recent Air India crash in Gujarat fresh in people’s minds, passengers reported harrowing scenes of cries, will-writing and sending out insurance details to loved ones as they feared impending doom.
Reports say the flight suffered a sudden drop in cabin pressure at around 6.53 P.M. local time, forcing the plane to descend quickly from 36,000 feet to 10,500 feet in all of ten minutes.
One passenger later recalled hearing a muffled boom and oxygen masks falling. Next thing they knew, the stewardess was shouting for masks to be put on, saying the plane had a malfunction.
Another passenger, visibly shaken, told the Daily Mail that people were “on the verge of tears”.
The airline, operated by Spring Airlines, provided 15,000 yen (about $104) and a night’s lodging as compensation for the incident.
Investigations are underway and the incident is being probed, said sources.
