US Vice President JD Vance may visit Islamabad for talks to ease Iran war tensions, with Pakistan emerging as a key mediator in US-Iran negotiations.

United States Vice President JD Vance is set to arrive in Islamabad, Pakistan, to hold talks to de-escalate the ongoing situation between America, Israel, and Iran, reports citing official sources said on Thursday.

Sources confirmed that Vance could travel to Pakistan, accompanied by the top officials from the Trump administration. However, the details, timing, and venue, along with participants' names, are not yet disclosed by the White House.

Earlier, Sources said that Trump’s administration’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and his son-in-law Jared Kushner, who have been involved in the Iran talks for almost a year now, were likely to join the possible peace talks in Islamabad.

While nothing has been finalised, officials are also weighing in on alternative venues like Egypt and Türkiye, though some other officials believe Islamabad could turn out to be the most favourable one since it maintains good relations with Iran and the United States.

The war that has now entered its fourth week has split over to neighbouring countries in West Asia, including oil- and LNG-producing nations such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and the UAE.

According to sources, intermediaries are playing a key role in relaying messages between Washington and Tehran.

One of the important players to have emerged from the ongoing hostilities in the region is Pakistan, which is balancing the United States, Russia, China and the Gulf along with Iran.

It is quite likely that an agreement related to the Iran war might be announced by the Trump administration through Pakistan.
