Doug Emhoff, who is married to US Vice President Kamala Harris has admitted that he cheated on his first wife Kerstin with a nanny.
The matter came to light on Saturday after a British tabloid alleged that he had been responsible for getting the family's nanny pregnant about 15 years ago.
The Daily Mail report claimed that he had an affair with Najen Naylor, who taught at the private school attended by his two children.
Emhoff was married then to Kerstin, a friend who was aware of the matter disclosed to the tabloid, saying Naylor chose not to keep the baby.
Emhoff acknowleged the affair to CNN in a statement.
However, he did not mention Naylor's name of say that she had been pregnant.
“During my first marriage, Kerstin and I went through some tough times on account of my actions. I took responsibility, and in the years since, we worked through things as a family and have come out stronger on the other side," Doug Emhoff told CNN.
