In response to intense political criticism from the opposition Trump Campaign regarding the widespread influx of undocumented immigrants across the unguarded southern border, Vice President and Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris will visit the US-Mexico border to evaluate the current state of affairs.
The Harris-Walz Campaign revealed on Wednesday that the vice president plans to journey to Douglas, Arizona, a location in close proximity to the US-Mexico border, on Friday.
No further information is currently available.
Earlier this week, the Trump Campaign asserted that Harris's visit to the US-Mexico border was motivated by political considerations.
This would be Harris' first trip to the border after she became the nominee of the Democratic Party in July.
From Arizona, Harris would travel to San Francisco and then to Los Angeles for fundraisers. She also plans to travel to Nevada over the weekend. Nevada is one of the six battleground states.
