Qari Abdul Rehman, a key financer of the terrorist group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and a close aide of Hafiz Saeed, was shot dead by an unidentified assailant in Karachi, Pakistan, on Monday.
The attack, which was captured on camera, has raised suspicions about possible internal rivalries or targeted assassinations within extremist networks.
In the video, a masked gunman is seen approaching Rehman’s shop before opening fire while he stood behind the counter.
Rehman was killed instantly. The footage also reveals that another individual present at the shop was shot dead, while a child standing nearby was left unharmed.
The motive behind Rehman’s killing remains unclear, though it comes amid reports of growing tensions within Pakistan’s intelligence circles and terror outfits.
His murder follows the recent killing of another close associate of Hafiz Saeed, Abu Qatal, under mysterious circumstances.
Qatal, a senior LeT commander, was reportedly involved in orchestrating multiple terror attacks, including the 9 June 2024 attack on a bus carrying Hindu pilgrims in Jammu and Kashmir’s Reasi district, which resulted in multiple civilian casualties.
While there is speculation that internal conflicts between Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI, and Lashkar-e-Taiba could be behind these killings, no group has claimed responsibility for Rehman’s assassination.
The incident adds to a series of unexplained killings of high-profile terrorists in Pakistan, hinting at possible power struggles within extremist factions.
