Laos will host the 2024 ASEAN Business and Investment Summit (ABIS) while chairing the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), aiming to boost regional business integration and strengthen ties with dialogue partners.
The summit will take place in Vientiane from October 8 to 11, with representatives from ASEAN member states and dialogue partners expected to attend, Xinhua news agency reported, citing the local Pasaxonn ewspaper.
ABIS 2024 will serve as a platform to discuss regional business and investment integration against the backdrop of global economic instability. Key topics will include trade and investment within ASEAN, economic integration, logistics, digital transformation, and the region’s clean energy transition focusing on solar and wind power.
The summit aims to enhance economic ties, increase intra-ASEAN trade and investments, and promote public-private partnerships to address regional economic challenges. It is also expected to provide actionable insights for sustainable development and digital transformation across the bloc.
The agenda will emphasise the role of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), the green economy, and the contributions of women and youth in fostering inclusive growth. Discussions will also address food security, health resilience, and measures to safeguard against health threats within the region.
