The death toll from Israeli strikes on Lebanon has surpassed 1,000 in less than three weeks since the escalation of conflict with Hezbollah began on 2 March, according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health.

On Thursday, the ministry reported that Israeli attacks have killed 1,001 people, including 79 women, 118 children, and 40 healthcare workers.

More than 2,584 people have been wounded. The United Nations has expressed grave concern over the bombardment, with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, warning that some Israeli attacks may amount to war crimes.

A spokesperson for the UN human rights office stated, "Deliberately attacking civilians or civilian objects amounts to a war crime.”

Türk highlighted the use of weapons that do not distinguish between civilians and combatants, as well as strikes on healthcare facilities and personnel.

Rights groups, including Human Rights Watch, have accused Israel of conducting “double-tap” strikes — secondary attacks targeting rescuers — in northern and southern Lebanon, further endangering civilians and medical workers.

The intensification followed Hezbollah's entry into the broader conflict, launching barrages of rockets and missiles towards northern Israel in response to regional developments.

Israel responded with extensive air and ground operations. The relentless bombardment has displaced more than one million people from southern Lebanon and parts of Beirut, exacerbating a major humanitarian crisis.
