As per reports, at least two people were killed and eight others wounded in a mass shooting late Monday night at Fairmount Park, marking one of Philadelphia’s deadliest gun violence incidents this year.
The shooting took place around 10:30 pm near the intersection of Lemon Hill Drive and Poplar Drive, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. Among the injured are at least two juveniles. The identities of the deceased have not yet been released.
Authorities have yet to confirm any arrests, and the motive behind the shooting remains unknown. Aerial images from local media showed a significant police presence at the scene, with a wide area of the park cordoned off as investigators searched for evidence.
This incident follows another mass shooting just a day earlier in Little River, South Carolina — a beachside town located about 20 miles northeast of Myrtle Beach.

On Sunday night, at least 11 people were hospitalised after shots were fired around 9:30 pm near a boat dock along the Intracoastal Waterway. Authorities believe additional victims may have been taken to hospitals in private vehicles.
The Horry County Police Department described the South Carolina incident as “isolated” and said there was no ongoing threat to the public. However, details remain scarce, and no arrests have been announced in that case either.
