Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president and former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Mehbooba Mufti visited Iran and paid tributes to the country's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Friday.
According to the report, Iran is set to begin funeral and last rites ceremonies following recent developments in the country. Mehbooba Mufti said it was an honour to personally convey her condolences and solidarity with the people of Iran.
In a post on X, Mehbooba wrote, " An honour for me to be here in Tehran to express my deepest condolences and solidarity on the martyrdom of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Sayyed Ali Khamenei — a revered leader who dared to stand against the tide and fought for the oppressed.”
She made the remarks during her visit to the country, where she was accompanied by other dignitaries and mourners at the condolence ceremony.
She described Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as a leader who stood firmly against global injustices and championed the cause of the oppressed.
Khamenei was assassinated on February 28 along with nearly 48 top leaders from civil and military leadership.
