PM Modi signed the guest book and was seen in warm interactions with Nehammer, including a hug and a selfie session, reflecting the camaraderie between the two nations.

A private engagement on Tuesday set the stage for the official discussions.

"An important milestone in India-Austria partnership! PM @narendramodi hosted by Austrian Chancellor @karlnehammer for a private engagement. This is the first meeting between the two leaders. Discussions on realising the full potential of bilateral partnership lie ahead," tweeted MEA Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, sharing photographs of the leaders.

Chancellor Nehammer reciprocated the warm sentiments on social media, posting, "Welcome to Vienna, PM @narendramodi! It is a pleasure and honour to welcome you to Austria. Austria and India are friends and partners. I look forward to our political and economic discussions during your visit!"

Modi responded appreciatively, thanking Nehammer "for the warm welcome" and expressing eagerness for their upcoming discussions.

"Our nations will continue working together to further global good," he posted on X.

Modi’s visit, the first by an Indian prime minister since Indira Gandhi's in 1983, aims to deepen bilateral ties and explore cooperation on various geopolitical challenges.

The leaders plan to address business leaders from both nations, fostering economic and political dialogue.

In a cultural highlight, Austrian artists welcomed Modi with a rendition of "Vande Mataram."

The choir and orchestra, led by Vijay Upadhyaya—a native of Lucknow and director of the Vienna University Philharmony since 1994—performed the piece.

Upadhyaya, an influential figure in European Union cultural projects, is also the founder and artistic director of the India National Youth Orchestra.

"A glimpse of Austria's vibrant musical culture," Modi expressed, sharing a video of the performance.

He will also call on the President of Austria, Alexander Van der Bellen, further solidifying diplomatic relations during his visit.
