Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his visit to France for the AI Action Summit, presented a handcrafted wooden alphabet set to Mirabel Rose Vance, daughter of US Vice President JD Vance, as a gesture of goodwill.

The eco-friendly alphabet set, crafted from sustainable materials, is designed to aid children's cognitive development and motor skills.

Unlike plastic alternatives, it is free from harmful chemicals and promotes environmental conservation.

Modi also gifted French President Emmanuel Macron a traditional Dokra artwork, featuring musicians adorned with studded stonework. The metal-casting technique, native to India, is known for its intricate craftsmanship and centuries-old heritage.

The Prime Minister was on a three-day visit to France from 10 to 12 February, participating in high-level engagements on artificial intelligence, commerce, energy, and cultural ties.

He co-chaired the AI Action Summit, a gathering of world leaders and technology industry executives.

PM Modi reaches US

Following his engagements in France, Modi arrived in the United States on Wednesday evening (local time) at the invitation of President Donald Trump.

India’s Ambassador to the US, Vinay Mohan Kwatra, along with senior officials, welcomed him at the Joint Base Andrews in Washington DC.

This marks Modi’s first visit to the US since Trump assumed office for a second term. Upon arrival, he proceeded to Blair House, where members of the Indian diaspora gathered to greet him, chanting slogans of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Modi Modi.”

Modi expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome.

As a symbolic gesture, the US flag at Blair House was replaced with the Indian flag prior to his arrival. He will reside at Blair House during his visit from 12 to 13 February.

Since November 2024, Modi and Trump have spoken by phone on two occasions. External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar attended Trump’s inauguration and met with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, also participating in the QUAD Foreign Ministers’ meeting in January 2025.
