Tech tycoon Elon Musk, the chief executive of Tesla and SpaceX and a prominent figure in US President Donald Trump’s cabinet, has reportedly expressed a desire to father a “legion” of children, according to a series of reports detailing private messages and financial arrangements.
The reports allege that Musk has used his social media platform, X, to communicate with prospective mothers, proposing surrogacy as a means to accelerate his ambitions.
One message, reportedly sent to social media influencer Ashley St Clair, read, “I want to knock you up again,” alongside a suggestion that surrogates could be employed to “reach legion-level before the apocalypse.”
St Clair, 26, the mother of Musk’s 13th child, told media that the billionaire’s actions created what she described as “Harem Drama”, with Musk allegedly managing the mothers of his children via substantial financial support and stringent non-disclosure agreements.
Musk is publicly confirmed to have fathered at least 14 children with four women: St Clair, Canadian singer Grimes, Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, and his ex-wife Justine Musk.
However, individuals close to the billionaire believe the actual number may be higher than what is known publicly.
Reports further claim that Musk, who is also the head of the Department of Government Efficiency under President Trump, may have even provided sperm to influential Japanese women at the request of officials from Japan — a country grappling with declining birth rates.
Among the mothers, Zilis is said to enjoy “special status”. She has reportedly accompanied Musk to several high-profile events, including meetings with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and elite global gatherings.
In St Clair’s case, Jared Birchall, a close aide to Musk, is said to have offered her $15 million along with $100,000 per month in support — on the condition that she refrain from naming Musk as the child’s father on official documents.
“She was offered a whopping $15 million and $100,000 a month in support if she agreed to keep Musk’s name off the birth certificate and not reveal he was the father,” Birchall allegedly revealed.
St Clair reportedly declined the confidentiality clause but still left Musk’s name off the birth certificate. After publicly disclosing their relationship in February, reports say her support was first reduced to $40,000 a month, and later to $20,000.
Musk has previously been accused of harbouring a “Genghis Khan-style fantasy” of creating a vast lineage, an idea he has neither confirmed nor explicitly denied. He has, however, stated that he finds the expansive family legacy of Mongol rulers “fascinating”.
Studies by a global team of geneticists found that nearly 8 per cent of men in the region once ruled by the Mongol Empire share nearly identical Y-chromosomes — suggesting that Genghis Khan’s descendants number around 16 million today.
According to Forbes, Musk remains the world’s richest person, with a net worth estimated at $367.9 billion.
