Nepal's Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has reiterated that no anti-China activities will be allowed on Nepalese soil, reaffirming the country’s firm adherence to the 'One China' policy.

The announcement came during a meeting with a high-level Chinese delegation led by Chen Jining, a member of the Communist Party of China’s Central Committee, held at Oli’s official residence in Baluwatar, Kathmandu.

The ‘One China’ policy holds that Taiwan is an integral part of China. Oli assured the delegation that Nepal would respect China’s stance and prevent any activities that challenge Beijing’s territorial claims, particularly concerning Tibet and Taiwan.

“Nepal fully supports the ‘One China’ policy, and we will not allow any anti-China activities to take place on our land,” Oli stated, according to a statement
from his secretariat.

China has consistently required countries with which it holds diplomatic ties to follow this policy. Nepal, which shares a border with Tibet, has long maintained its commitment to Beijing’s stance on Taiwan and Tibet as part of its foreign policy.

Oli also expressed gratitude for China’s ongoing support in Nepal’s economic development, highlighting Beijing's role in alleviating poverty and advancing development under the leadership of President Xi Jinping.

The prime minister voiced hopes for continued assistance in Nepal's economic progress.

The discussion also covered plans to enhance the relationship between the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist), of which Oli is the Chairman, and the Communist Party of China.

According to the Prime Minister’s office, both parties committed to strengthening bilateral ties, including increasing high-level exchanges and fostering deeper collaboration across multiple sectors.

Oli also emphasised the importance of maintaining strong government-to-government and people-to-people ties between the two nations. “We need to continue the exchange of high-level visits to deepen our historical connections and promote trade,” he remarked.

In response, Chen Jining, who also serves as Secretary for the Shanghai Municipal Committee, reiterated China’s support for Nepal’s “happiness and prosperity,” stating that Beijing will always respect Nepal’s political decisions. He emphasised that China stands ready to assist Nepal’s development and stability.

Prime Minister Oli's Chief Advisor Bishnu Prasad Rimal, CPM (UML) Secretary Raghubir Mahaseth, and China’s Ambassador to Nepal, Chen Song, were among those present at the meeting.
