New Zealand has entered the global spotlight with an unusual pitch, offering to host the wedding of Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce. The tourism board of Aotearoa has launched what it calls an “official petition” to bring the couple’s nuptials to the country, days after the pop icon and the Kansas City Chiefs star announced their engagement.
The board took to Instagram with a message styled as a campaign to win over Swift’s fans: “This is our official petition for Pop’s next Royal Wedding to be hosted right here in Aotearoa New Zealand. We think the Swifties would agree, it’s the perfect backdrop for a star-studded ‘I do.’ Are you ready for it?”
Accompanying the post were images showcasing some of the country’s most striking landscapes, including Fiordland’s mountains, a vineyard in Wānaka, the Ohaupō Tree Church, Lake Erskine and Dublin Bay. The message ended on a playful note: “A huge congratulations to @taylorswift @killatrav, catch the bouquet in the comments to manifest your dream wedding down under.”
Swift, 35, and Kelce confirmed their engagement earlier this month with a joint Instagram post captioned: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

Their relationship, which became public in September 2023 when Swift was first spotted cheering Kelce from the stands, has since captured the attention of fans worldwide. She has been a regular presence at Kansas City Chiefs games, while Kelce was seen frequently at her Eras Tour concerts.
The singer has had a string of high-profile relationships in the past, including with actor Joe Alwyn and former One Direction singer Harry Styles. Reflecting on her new chapter, Swift recently said on the New Heights podcast hosted by Kelce and his brother Jason: “I was like, ‘If this guy’s not crazy, this is sort of what I’ve been writing songs about wanting to happen to me since I was a teenager.’”
With New Zealand’s playful pitch now part of the conversation, the engagement of Swift and Kelce has taken on an additional layer of global intrigue, with fans eagerly speculating about where the wedding might ultimately take place.
