At least one person was killed and several others injured in an explosion during a cricket match in Pakistan’s north-western Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province on Saturday, police said.
The blast took place at Kausar Cricket Ground in Khar tehsil of Bajaur district. Bajaur District Police Officer Waqas Rafique confirmed that the explosion was caused by an improvised explosive device.

Police said one man died in the incident, while several others, including children, sustained injuries. The injured were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
While no group has so far claimed responsibility for the attack, police officials attributed the explosion to terrorists, linking it to Operation Sarbakaf launched by security forces last month.
The incident comes a week after two separate violent encounters in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In one of those clashes, three militants were killed during a police operation in the Lachi police station area of Kohat district.
