The European Union on Wednesday expressed solidarity with the people of India while marking the first anniversary of the ‘heinous terrorist attack’ in Pahalgam, where 26 lives were lost on April 22, 2025.
In a statement issued on behalf of its 27 member states, the EU reaffirmed its strong condemnation of terrorism in all forms and emphasised unity with India in remembering the victims.
“On the commemoration day of the heinous terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the European Union and its 27 member states stand in solidarity with the people of India in remembrance of the innocent victims murdered one year ago,” the statement read.
“Together with their families and the Indian authorities, we honour their memory. We reiterate our outright condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, which can never be justified,” it added.

Meanwhile, the British High Commission in New Delhi also paid tribute through a message shared on social media, remembering those who lost their lives and denouncing acts of terror.
“Today, we mark one year since the horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam. We pay our respects to the victims, and our thoughts remain with everyone affected,” the statement said.
“The UK condemns terrorism in all its forms. We remain committed to working with partners to secure peace and security,” it added. The attack was carried out by the Pakistan-based terror group Lashkar-e-Taiba, which targeted tourists in Pahalgam, resulting in the deaths of 26 people, most of them visitors from different parts of India.
In response to the incident, India launched a retaliatory military action, Operation Sindoor, during which the Indian armed forces struck and destroyed multiple military and terror-related installations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
