PM Modi arrives in Oslo for third India-Nordic summit

 During the Norway visit, PM Modi will participate in the third India-Nordic Summit.PM also witnessed the cultural programme.This visit includes bilateral talks between India and Norway and also the 3rd India-Nordic Summit. This visit will give impetus to India’s relations with the Nordic Countries.

Prime Minister Narender Modi was warmly welcomed at the airport in Oslo by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr


After concluding his Sweden visit as part of his ongoing five-nation tour,Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Oslo, Norway. The Prime Minister was warmly welcomed at the airport by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre and Indian diaspora at the hotel in Oslo.

 

 

 During the Norway visit, PM Modi will participate in the third India-Nordic Summit.PM also witnessed the cultural programme.This visit includes bilateral talks between India and Norway and also the 3rd India-Nordic Summit. This visit will give impetus to India’s relations with the Nordic Countries. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Oslo for his first-ever visit to Norway. This is also the first Prime Ministerial visit from India in 43 years.

 

Today he will call on royal majesties  King Harald V and Queen Sonja and hold bilateral talks with Norway’s Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. He will also address the India-Norway Business and Research Summit. This visit is expected to focus on areas like clean and green technology and blue economy. It will also give momentum to trade and investment opportunities.

 

On Tuesday, the Prime Minister will attend the 3rd India – Nordic Summit. In view of the recently implemented Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement, the Summit is expected to catalyze economic relations with the member countries. At the summit, leaders from Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden will come together to discuss closer cooperation with India. The Prime Minister is also expected to hold bilateral talks with Norway’s leadership during the visit.

 

The bilateral trade between India and the 5 Nordic countries currently stands at 19 billion dollars. The focus areas include a wide range of sectors like Innovation, Defense, the Arctic and people to people contact. This visit is expected to deepen India’s already cordial ties with the Nordic countries.

 

Before arriving in Norway, PM Modi wrapped up a significant two-day visit to Sweden, where he held extensive talks with Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson. Both countries agreed to elevate ties to a Strategic Partnership, while announcing major initiatives in innovation, artificial intelligence, technology and trade. PM Modi was also honoured with Sweden’s prestigious ‘Royal Order of the Polar Star’ for strengthening India-Sweden relations.
