This visit, Modi’s first to the United States since President Donald Trump’s inauguration for a second term, underscored the importance both leaders place on the bilateral relationship.

Trump extended a warm welcome to Modi at the White House on Thursday, with both leaders exchanging a hug. The US President remarked, “We have great unity and great friendship. It is important to remain united as nations.”

He further expressed confidence that the relationship between the two countries would grow even closer in the coming years.

In response, Modi conveyed his appreciation for Trump’s leadership, stating, “I am delighted to see you back at the White House for a second term and express confidence that our countries will continue to advance India-US strategic partnership with the same bond, trust and excitement.”

Highlighting his own electoral success, Modi remarked, “The people of India had also given me the opportunity to serve them for a third successive term, and this has happened after 60 years in the country's history.”

Modi is among the first world leaders to visit the United States since Trump’s re-election and was invited within just three weeks of the new administration taking office.

The discussions between the two leaders encompassed a broad spectrum of critical issues, including defence cooperation, economic engagement, technology partnerships, and global security concerns, reinforcing the depth of the India-US strategic alliance.
