Elon Musk's biographer, Seth Abramson, has issued a stern warning about the billionaire entrepreneur's mental state and its implications for the United States. In a series of posts on X, a platform Musk owns, Abramson claimed the Tesla and SpaceX CEO might be “deeply unwell” and called for immediate government action.
Abramson, who has been closely monitoring Musk’s online behaviour for the past two years, referenced Musk’s admitted struggles with mental health, substance use, and stress.
“I’m a Musk biographer who has been tracking his online behaviour for the last two years – and given that he’s admitted to all of mental illness, heavy drug use, and crippling stress, it is now reasonable to fear he is deeply unwell,” Abramson stated.
Abramson emphasised Musk’s influence over pivotal sectors like aerospace, artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and social media.
He also criticised Musk's appointment as the incoming head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the Trump administration, arguing that it posed risks to national stability.
“His holdings across many civilisation-essential industries and the fact that he’s the incoming POTUS mean that his madness and increasing incitement of violence endanger us all,” Abramson warned.
He further urged the outgoing administration to terminate government contracts with Musk and file lawsuits against DOGE’s alleged unconstitutional policies.
“For 14 days more, the administration is in a position to take urgent action to protect America from Elon Musk,” Abramson added.
The biographer's remarks have sparked polarised reactions on X. While some users voiced concerns over Musk’s erratic behaviour, others defended him, calling Abramson’s statements exaggerated.
One user described Musk as a “thin-skinned, drug-addled Bond villain,” while another suggested Musk viewed himself as a guardian of Western culture.
Recently, Musk has been involved in contentious debates, criticising the UK government for its handling of a grooming scandal in Oldham and accusing Prime Minister Keir Starmer of negligence during his time as Director of Public Prosecutions.
Additionally, Musk voiced support for far-right figure Tommy Robinson, sparking further controversy.
Musk’s mental health has been under public scrutiny in the past. Reports emerged last year of a possible breakdown following his public booing at a Dave Chappelle show, shortly after acquiring Twitter for $44 billion.
Abramson's concerns have reignited the debate over Musk's increasing influence in industries deemed critical to civilisation and the role mental health plays in leadership.
