Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday lauded India’s growing influence on the world stage and reaffirmed Russia’s commitment to deepening its “special privileged strategic partnership” with New Delhi.
In his Independence Day greetings to President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Putin said India enjoyed “well-deserved authority in the world arena” and “actively participates in resolving the most important issues on the international agenda”.
“We value our relations of special privileged strategic partnership with India,” he said, expressing confidence that the two countries would continue to expand constructive bilateral cooperation across a wide range of sectors.
“This fully meets the interests of our friendly peoples and is in line with strengthening security and stability at the regional and global levels,” he added.
India and Russia share a long-standing relationship which has remained steady despite significant geopolitical shifts. Russia continues to be one of India’s major defence suppliers, while the two countries have been working more closely on energy cooperation and strategic connectivity projects across Eurasia.
The message came as India celebrated its 79th Independence Day with nationwide ceremonies and patriotic events.
