Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that the Russian president is not interested in peace and that he wants to prolong the conflict against Kyiv.
Zelensky warned that US mediation efforts have failed to deter Russian forces or even put a stop to Russian attacks on Ukraine in recent times; instead, they have only intensified the attacks.
Zelenskyy said, "Putin's goal is to occupy all of Ukraine. And no matter what he tells anyone, it is clear that he has set the war machine in motion to such an extent that he simply cannot stop it unless he is forced to fundamentally change his personal goals."
He called the European allies to urge China to use its influence with Russia to halt the ongoing offensive in Ukraine. "China certainly can make the Russians stop killing. But the world has seen no effort by China to apply that to Russia," Zelenskyy said.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump on Friday said that he was running out of patience with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"It's like running out and running out fast, but it does take two to tango," Trump said.
He hinted that Russia could face tougher and stricter sanctions due to this war. Though the warnings have failed to deter the Russian side, who weigh heavily on the offensive capabilities to take control of more territory in Ukraine.
However, Trump's frustration has grown over the past weeks with both the Ukrainian leader and the Russian president over their reluctance to engage in direct talks.
Meanwhile, the Kremlin’s chief spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, has said that the peace talks were paused due to Europe’s hindrance. "Our negotiators have the opportunity to communicate through channels. But for now, it is probably more accurate to talk about a pause," he said.
