Riyadh Airport Missile Attack Kills 12, India Condemns Strike

India has strongly condemned the missile attack on Saudi Arabia’s King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which killed 12 people and injured 309 others. The Ministry of External Affairs described repeated attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure as completely unacceptable and called for an immediate end to such strikes.

India conveyed its condolences to the families of those who died and wished the injured a speedy recovery. New Delhi also expressed solidarity with the Saudi government and its people as they work to protect the kingdom’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The missile hit a complex containing Terminals 3 and 4, which handle domestic flights. Saudi authorities confirmed the death toll and reported that some of the injured were in critical condition.

The victims included Saudi nationals as well as citizens of Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Palestine, Syria and Sudan. The diverse nationalities among those affected reflected the wider international impact of the attack.

A Saudi-led military coalition held Iran-backed Houthi rebels in neighbouring Yemen responsible for the strike. It was described as the third attack targeting Riyadh’s airport within a week, intensifying concerns over the safety of civilian infrastructure across the Gulf region.

Saudi authorities suspended airport operations after the incident and diverted flights while security teams examined the damage and managed the emergency response. The disruption has added to concerns about further interruptions to air travel and a wider escalation of the regional conflict.

India also called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and said it hoped peace and normalcy would return to the region as tensions continue to rise.

The attack occurred during an intensified Saudi-led coalition campaign against Houthi forces in Yemen. Since the collapse of a July truce in Yemen’s prolonged war, Houthi forces have carried out a heavy barrage of attacks across Saudi Arabia, targeting airports, oil infrastructure and commercial tankers.

US President Donald Trump has indicated that Washington is considering joining Saudi Arabia’s military strikes against the Houthis. No final decision has been announced.

India’s response reflects its concern over attacks on civilian targets and the broader impact of the conflict on regional stability. New Delhi has maintained that civilian lives and critical infrastructure must be protected and that hostilities should end immediately.

With casualties increasing and tensions remaining high, the Riyadh airport strike has renewed calls for restraint and urgent steps to prevent further escalation in the region.
