US President Donald Trump has once again reiterated his claim of settling eight wars in ten months since assuming office in January this year. Donald Trump’s first year as the 47th president of the United States has had its fair share of controversies, including slapping tariffs on trade partners, sanctioning Iran, carrying out Strikes on Yemen and the Iranian nuclear programme, and the ongoing tensions with Venezuela over oil and mineral resources.
However, one particular claim of settling eight wars in ten months has stood out; while some countries involved in conflicts with each other acknowledge his role, others either reject or maintain silence over his alleged claims.
Trump said, “I have restored the US’s strength, settled eight wars in the last ten months, destroyed the Iranian nuclear programme and ended wars in Gaza, bringing for the first time in 3000 years peace to the Middle East.”
Trump has also claimed that he was largely successful with his tariffs on trade partners, including major nations like China, India, Brazil, Canada and Mexico. Except for the labour market, the impact on the domestic consumer base has shown contradictory results.
He added, 'I have already secured a record 18 trillion dollars of investment into the country, which means more jobs, wage increases, growth and opening of industrial units for far greater national security.' Much of this success has been accomplished by tariffs; my favourite word – tariffs,” he said.
He criticised former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden for leaving a mess for him to fix, saying, 'I have fixed the mess left behind, such as "open" borders, crime and transgender men playing in women's sports, to "the worst trade deals ever made" and a "sick and corrupt" federal government.'
The last four years, the US was ruled by politicians who fought only insiders, illegal aliens, career criminals and corporate lobbyists who took advantage of the system to fill their pockets,” he said.
