French President Emmanuel Macron has said that Paris would continue to extend its support to Kyiv in its war against Russia. Macron said Ukraine’s future 'cannot be decided without the Ukrainians.' He made these comments after United States President Donald Trump said he was ready to 'give territorial concessions to Russia' if they agreed to cease the hostilities.
During a joint telephone call with Zelensky, Merz and Starmer, Macron expressed support for Ukraine in its ongoing war against Russia. He was once again called on by 'the coalition of the willing', where countries mostly from the NATO bloc vowed to protect Ukrainian interests and its territorial sovereignty.
In his post on X, Macron said, "Ukraine’s future cannot be decided without the Ukrainians, who have been fighting for their freedom and security for over three years now.” He went on to say that 'the EU will also necessarily be part of the solution because their security is also at stake.'

Macron's last visit to the UK also saw the French president making commitments to British Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer over his support for Ukraine in its fight against what he called pure Russian aggression. Both leaders welcomed Trump’s desire to bring an end to this war and also agreed that, 'We must keep up the pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin' to end the war.
Earlier on Saturday, Zelensky said that 'his country won’t give any territorial concessions to Russia for the settlement of the war', adding, “Any solution to Ukraine without Ukrainians will not last long."
