Forget the final score —the internet’s loudest Super Bowl takeaway this year was edible. A $180 (approximately Rs 16,298) burger sold at Levi’s Stadium in California has gone viral after fans shared videos of the colossal LX Hammer Burger, sparking reactions that ranged from amazement to outright disgust.
Curated by Levy, the official hospitality partner at Levi’s Sta
dium, the burger was never intended to be a standard stadium snack. Weighing in at 3.5 pounds and designed to serve four people, the LX Hammer Burger was marketed as a ‘shareable spin’ on a classic cheeseburger.
In reality, it was less a burger and more a towering beef spectacle. Instead of a traditional ground beef patty, the dish featured fall-off-the-bone braised bone-in beef shank, roasted mirepoix demi-glace and Point Reyes bleu cheese fondue, all packed into a house-baked brioche bun.
NFL Managing Editor Jimmy Durkin, who posted a close-up of the oversized creation online, revealed another detail that further fuelled the internet frenzy: the indulgence didn’t stop at the $180 price tag.
Soon, social media platforms were flooded with videos of fans attempting to take on the massive burger. While some praised its rich flavours and over-the-top novelty, others recoiled at its sheer greasiness, calling it excessive even by Super Bowl standards.
