The United States President Donald Trump has told Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to 're-correct' his course after recent Gaza and Syria strikes, said the White House.

Trump, while being a staunch Israeli supporter like the majority of US politicians, has expressed his dissatisfaction over the recent Gaza Church attack and also Israeli airstrikes in the Syrian capital, Damascus. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said, “The president enjoys a good working relationship with Bibi Netanyahu and stays in frequent communication with him. He was caught off guard by the bombing in Syria and also the bombing of a Catholic Church in Gaza.”

In both of the situations, the President immediately raised the issue with the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, and told him to issue a statement saying it was a mistake,” she added. Reports said Trump and Netanyahu share a relationship with moments of mutual distrust. Though they are cooperating on the overall issues prevailing in the Middle East.

Trump recently expressed hope that he and Netanyahu would secure a ceasefire deal in Gaza, though much to the surprise of the US president, the visit yielded no results and ended without the US president issuing a joint statement signalling a growing rift between the two.

Meanwhile, despite the ongoing differences, Leavitt praised Trump’s efforts to push humanitarian aid into Gaza. She said, “Trump was the reason that Aid was being distributed in Gaza, and he wants it to take place peacefully.” Though Israeli forces have killed more than 1,000 people seeking humanitarian relief in Gaza since late May, according to local health ministry figures.
