US President Donald Trump on Saturday launched a fresh offensive against his political opponents, alleging that former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, along with Hillary Clinton, were behind what he called the “creation” of the Epstein files, accusations that sparked unease within Republican ranks and prompted warnings of electoral consequences in the 2026 midterms.
Taking to his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump wrote, “What’s going on with my ‘boys’ and, in some cases, ‘gals’? They’re all going after Attorney General Pam Bondi, who is doing a FANTASTIC JOB! We’re on one Team, MAGA, and I don’t like what’s happening."
He went further to say, “Why are we giving publicity to Files written by Obama, Crooked Hillary, Comey, Brennan, and the Losers and Criminals of the Biden Administration, who conned the World with the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, 51 ‘Intelligence’ Agents, ‘THE LAPTOP FROM HELL,’ and more? They created the Epstein Files, just like they created the FAKE Hillary Clinton/Christopher Steele Dossier that they used on me, and now my so-called ‘friends’ are playing right into their hands. Why didn’t these Radical Left Lunatics release the Epstein Files?"
The remarks came days after the Justice Department, in conjunction with the FBI, declared that its review of the Epstein files had concluded. A joint memo issued recently stated that after an “exhaustive review,” authorities had found no evidence of third-party culpability or a “client list.” The conclusion contradicted earlier statements by Attorney General Pam Bondi, who had claimed a client list existed and was awaiting examination.
Epstein, a disgraced financier, was found dead in a New York jail in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking minors. His death and its murky circumstances, combined with connections to high-profile personalities, fuelled widespread speculation of a cover-up and existence of a suppressed “client list.”

Trump’s latest claim has not gone down well with conservative strategists. Former White House aide Steve Bannon sounded the alarm over potential damage to the Republican Party in the coming elections.
“You’re going to lose 10 percent of the MAGA movement. If we lose 10 percent of the MAGA movement right now, we ain’t gonna … we’re gonna lose 40 seats in ’26. We’re gonna lose the president," Bannon warned in a public statement.
Reports have also emerged of growing discontent within Trump’s inner circle. FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino and Chief of Staff Kash Patel are said to be dissatisfied with the Justice Department’s handling of the Epstein files, particularly with Bondi’s shifting narrative.
At present, Republicans hold a slim majority in the House with 220 seats, against the Democrats’ 212. Three seats remain vacant. Analysts believe that any erosion of MAGA support could prove decisive.
Trump, however, remains defiant, doubling down on support for Bondi and maintaining that internal critics are falling into a “Democrat trap” by giving credibility to the Epstein file conclusions.
The row continues to deepen with growing questions over credibility, accountability, and intra-party loyalty—elements that could reshape the Republican calculus ahead of 2026.
