US President Donald Trump has vowed to pursue not only the assassin of Charlie Kirk, but also those who, he said, fuelled hatred and animosity against the controversial political figure from the left in the United States.
In a video statement posted on his Truth Social platform, Trump described Kirk, 31, as a “patriot” and a “martyr for truth and freedom,” praising him for inspiring young American students.
“Charlie was one of the best Americans; the monster who attacked him was attacking our whole country,” Trump said. “An assassin tried to silence him with a bullet, but he failed, because together we will ensure that his voice, his message, and his legacy will live on for countless generations to come.”
Trump linked Kirk’s murder to left-wing politics in the country, stating: “Violence and murder are the tragic consequence of demonising those with whom you disagree, day after day, year after year.”

He added: “For years, the radical left has compared wonderful Americans like Charlie to modern-day Nazis and the world’s worst mass murderers and criminals. It was this type of rhetoric that is directly responsible for the terrorism that we’re seeing in our country today.”
The former president promised to use all his power to investigate not only the killers but also the organisations that funded and supported the crime.
“This is a dark moment for America,” Trump said, urging unity around “the American values for which Charlie Kirk lived and died – the values of free speech, citizenship, the rule of law, and patriotic devotion and love of God.”
Kirk, like Ben Shapiro, was a staunch supporter of Israeli military actions in Gaza; he defended the killing of children in Gaza as a proportionate response, despite the International Court of Justice ruling.
He was also known for his frequent rants against African-American, Latino and Hispanic communities, often citing what he described as overwhelming crime rates within these groups across the country.
