US president Donald Trump said on Friday evening that he would likely host next year’s G20 summit at his golf resort in Miami. Trump’s golf diplomacy, although not very popular among international leaders, plays an important role in the manner relations with other nations unfold. Real estate billionaire Trump said his National Doral resort and spa was the ideal choice for the gathering in December 2026.
The 79-year-old, while announcing the venue for the next year’s summit, said, "It's going to be at Doral." "Everybody wants it there because it's right next to the airport; it's the best location; it's beautiful; it's a beautiful everything," Trump said.
Though critics have said that Trump is only trying to make more money from the event, Trump denied the accusations, saying he would not profit from this particular event. He said, "We will not make any money on it. We're doing a deal where it's not going to be money; there's no money in it. I just want it to go well.”

Trump also said that Miami, a tourist hotspot, remains fully booked ahead of the Christmas celebrations, and it would be impossible for the city to host high and influential people all together at one place. "Each country will have its own building. I think it will be really a beautiful thing,” Trump added.
What is more interesting for the next year’s G-20 summit is the US president expressing willingness to invite the Russian president to Miami.
Besides Putin, Trump said he is ready to welcome Chinese President Xi Jinping to the event next year. "I would love them to, if they want to," Trump said. When asked about this year’s G20 summit scheduled to be held in South Africa, Trump replied to the question, saying, "I won't be going; JD will be going. Great vice president, and he looks forward to it.”
