An operation "Chivalrous Knight 3" has been launched by the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to restore and operate water networks destroyed or damaged in northern Gaza.

This move comes after the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the UAE and the Gaza Municipality as an extension of the former’s efforts to provide urgent humanitarian solutions and finance the works of restoring the functionality of water wells and containers in the war-torn northern area.

Humanitarian assistance will be provided through the operation to citizens in northern Gaza by restoring water lines, networks, and wells across different areas.

A lot of the facilities within this area have been affected. According to reports, 60 wells have been destroyed, desalination plants are out of operation, main water networks have been damaged and water sources have been contaminated.

It was aimed through the project to deliver water to these high-density-population areas, get rid of pollution, and create a healthy environment for them.

The UAE funded the repair operations of water lines and the maintenance of parts of the water supply network in most of northern Gaza as part of its efforts to help people easily access water – currently a difficult proposition.

As part of the operation the UAE is continuing its support for municipalities in the Gaza Strip.

In the previous period, the UAE implemented a project for repairing wells and water tanks in Khan Younis City to reduce the burden on the municipality after its water networks were damaged, leading to a crisis.

The UAE commissioned six desalination plants in Rafah, Egypt. It has a daily total capacity of 1.2 million gallons to meet the needs of over 600,000 people in Gaza, with a total of 130 million gallons supplied to date.

The UAE is also providing humanitarian assistance and water supply to displaced families in different parts of Gaza under Chivalrous Knight 3.

This is to alleviate the suffering of citizens amidst a disastrous situation in Gaza, so that one may respond to essential and urgent needs among the Palestinian people.
