Last Charter Flight For British citizens' Evacuation From Lebanon Set For Sunday.

The situation in Lebanon has reached a critical point, prompting the UK government to announce its final charter flight for British nationals wishing to leave the country. This decision comes as tensions rise due to the ongoing conflict between Hezbollah and Israel, affecting the safety and security of residents in the region.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has once again emphasised the urgency for British nationals still in Lebanon to take advantage of this evacuation opportunity. He urged those in the country to step forward and make arrangements for their departure.

During a recent visit to Cheshire, Starmer made a heartfelt appeal, stating that now is the time to leave. He assured them that plans are in place for their evacuation, and it is crucial for them to act quickly.

The Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) confirmed that after the chartered flight scheduled to leave Beirut on Sunday, there will be no further flights arranged due to a significant decrease in demand.

However, they assured that the situation will be continuously monitored. The UK government is urging any remaining British nationals who wish to leave Lebanon to register with the government immediately.

Foreign Secretary David Lammy expressed his concern regarding the volatile situation in Lebanon, stating that he is pleased to see many people responding to their advice and leaving the country promptly.

He noted that as demand decreases and security concerns escalate, there is no certainty that other evacuation options will be available in the near future. Lammy's message is clear: those wishing to depart should take action now.

In the past week, three chartered flights have already departed from Beirut, successfully helping more than 250 individuals exit the country. The upcoming flight on Sunday is available for British nationals, their spouses or partners, and children under 18. However, dependents who are not British citizens must possess a valid visa to board the flight.

The flight will take off from Beirut-Rafic Hariri International Airport. Those British nationals who have registered their presence with the government will receive details on how to request a seat on the flight.

To ensure comprehensive support for British nationals in Lebanon, the FCDO has mobilised government officials in London, Beirut, and the wider region. A Rapid Deployment Team from the FCDO has also been dispatched to Lebanon to enhance the assistance provided by British Embassy officials.
