Ukrainian Defence Shoots Down 52 Russian Drones Over Regions.

Ukraine's Defence Forces successfully repelled a significant Russian aerial attack, which involved 103 Shahed drones and other unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

The attack, launched from various Russian-controlled locations including Bryansk, Millerovo, and Berdyansk, was part of Russia's ongoing military aggression in the region.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that its forces managed to down 52 of the incoming UAVs and drones across multiple regions of Ukraine, including Poltava, Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, and others.

In a statement shared on Telegram, the Ukrainian Air Force detailed how the attack was repelled by a combination of anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, electronic warfare systems, and mobile fire groups of the Defence Forces.

Despite this, the attack resulted in considerable damage to civilian infrastructure in several Ukrainian cities.

The Russian forces also launched an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Crimea towards the Kherson region during the assault. However, thanks to the prompt response of Ukraine's defence, much of the attack was thwarted.

Nevertheless, the assault caused significant damage to residential areas, private businesses, and apartment buildings in Kherson, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Zhytomyr, and Kyiv. Fortunately, initial reports indicated that no casualties were sustained from this specific round of drone strikes.

The Ukrainian Defence Forces also reported the loss of 44 enemy drone-simulators, which were either destroyed or neutralised during the attack. The drones did not pose any direct threat but were still a part of the larger offensive by Russian forces.

Interestingly, one of the drones veered off course and headed towards Belarus. Ukrainian officials continue to assess the full scale of the damage caused, especially to private property and local infrastructure.

Despite the successful interception of many drones, Ukraine’s civilian infrastructure continues to be a target of Russian aggression. Just a day earlier, a separate Russian missile strike on Kyiv killed one person and injured at least 12 others.

The missile attack also caused damage to several foreign embassies located in the Ukrainian capital. Among the injured, five individuals were hospitalised while others received treatment at the scene.

In response to these persistent attacks, Ukraine's Defence Forces continue to bolster their air defence systems to protect both military and civilian assets.

The ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine has seen an increasing reliance on unmanned aerial vehicles by Russian forces, and Ukraine’s response has become increasingly sophisticated, employing a mix of conventional and modern technologies to mitigate the impact of these assaults.
