The United Nations Security Council (UNSC) has rescheduled the emergency meeting focused on Israel’s decision to take control of Gaza City.
The meeting, which was scheduled to be held today (Saturday), will take place on Sunday. The sources in the Security Council told reporters on Saturday that the date of the emergency meeting has been changed.
According to sources, the session, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed till August 10 and is now expected to convene at 10 AM local time. No reason was given for the change. Reports suggested that the United Kingdom, Greece, France and Slovenia have requested the emergency meeting.
Following Israel’s decision to reoccupy Gaza City, the meeting has been endorsed by all members of the Security Council except Panama, which is its current chair and the US.

Israel’s security cabinet approved a plan to reoccupy Gaza City, especially its northern part, on Thursday.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told reporters that his government wants to "take full control of all of Gaza" ahead of the Cabinet meeting. Reacting sharply to the development, the international community called the decision illegal under international law and asked Israel to reconsider its decision.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson GuoJiakun said Gaza belongs to the Palestinian people and is an inalienable part of the Palestinian territory. While slamming Israel’s decision, he said, "An immediate ceasefire is the right way to ease the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and secure the release of captives.
