US, allies accuse Iran of killings, kidnappings in West

The accusations are nothing new for Iran as a hostile narrative, and perception management has been going on for decades.

Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The United States and more than a dozen other countries, primarily its allies, have accused Iran of trying to kill or kidnap residents, journalists and officials in Western nations.

The accusations are nothing new for Iran as a hostile narrative, and perception management has been going on for decades by the Western media backed by the right-wing governments, who view Iran as an existential threat.

The latest round of hostilities has come after the Iranian regime refused to back down and halt its enrichment programme despite recent US airstrikes on three nuclear facilities in Isfahan, Natanz, and Fordow.

Interestingly, millions of Iranians are feeling unsafe over the fears of fresh military escalation between the two countries.

Speculations suggest that the US and Israel are seeking another military action against the regime in September, which is forcing the Western nations to resort to accusations indicting Iran in serious crimes.

The governments of Albania, Austria, Belgium, Canada, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, the UK and the US said in a statement, "We are united in our opposition to the attempts of Iranian intelligence services to kill, kidnap, and harass people in Europe and North America in clear violation of our sovereignty.”

They said such activities were being carried out in collaboration with international criminal networks.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom, a primary ally of the US, has said that it halted more than 20 Iranian-linked plots to kidnap or kill individuals in Britain, including UK nationals and others Iran views as threats, since early 2022.
